1900 - 1940
The story of the Salya family began in Gujarat, India,
with my great-grandfather, Sulaiman Salya. He
earned the trust of his community by serving as the
village ‘Hakeem’ – a wise man and practitioner
of herbal medicine.
His son, Ahmed Salya, my grandfather,
became a successful cotton farmer. He managed
extensive cotton fields in Gujarat and took the bold
step of exporting his cotton to the United Kingdom.
With a vision to expand the business globally and build
a lasting legacy, he sent his son to England for higher
education, laying the foundation for the future
growth of the family enterprise.
1960 - 1970
At the age of 13, my father, Usman Salya,
arrived in London, where he completed
his education and began his career
working in a cotton mill. During this time,
he gained a comprehensive understanding
of every facet of the cotton trade. He
sourced cotton from countries like India
and supplied it to local mills across England.
1980 - 1990
Usman Salya transitioned into the garment industry,
sourcing fabrics from local wholesalers and partnering
with independent tailors to create custom pieces.
During this period, we established our first denim
processing and manufacturing plant, producing highquality products for renowned clients such as Lee,
Wrangler, Levi’s, The Arcadia Group, River Island, Marks &
Spencer, Next, Topman, and several prestigious Italian
designer brands. To optimize operations, we later
relocated the denim plant to Morocco.
1995
After completing my education in Fashion and
Business Development, I joined the family business.
Under the mentorship of my father, I gained
valuable hands-on experience in both
manufacturing operations and project development.
1997
Usman Salya made his first strategic
investment in commercial real estate,
focusing on blue-chip properties and
food stores such as Tesco and
Morrisons. These timely investments
laid the foundation for future growth.
1998
He later acquired his first commercial plot,
converting it into residential land, and
successfully completed his first development
project in Preston – a 12-unit residential
development.
2000
I took the helm of the business, securing
planning permissions for several properties
and making strategic decisions to purchase
and sell land, setting Reign on a new trajectory
of growth and innovation.
2004
I spearheaded the company’s expansion
into international markets, with a particular
focus on Dubai, UAE. Our strategy went
beyond simple construction; we aimed to
create iconic developments with a strong
emphasis on thoughtful design. Projects
such as Roma and Milano by Giovanni
Boutique Suites were meticulously planned,
blending Italian-inspired aesthetics with
modern amenities to offer a distinctive and
luxurious living experience.
2005
A pivotal milestone in our journey was the
founding of the Salya Institute of Medical
Science, a charitable hospital established
to honor the legacy of my great-grandfather,
a hakeem, and my mother, who passed
away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Driven by a deep commitment to supporting
those in need, this initiative was our way of
preserving their legacies and continuing their
tradition of selfless service.

approaches to real estate development and

to expand, with additional projects underway to meet the
increasing demand for high-quality commercial spaces.
